Who are typical clients of Seattle Portfolio Company?

Clients are typically families and individuals. They may hold their investments in regular accounts, retirement accounts, trust accounts, college saving plans or a combination of these. New clients are typically investing proceeds from employment benefits, inheritance, retirement savings, or other funds. The minimum investment for a new Managed Account is $800,000.

What types of investments does Seattle Portfolio Company typically suggest?

Most client investments are no-load mutual funds. A mutual fund is a large, diversified pool of investments with an investment objective and a management team. "No load" means that there are not sales commissions paid from your investments to your advisor. The suggested mutual funds invest primarily in stocks and bonds. A small portion of investments may be placed directly in individual stocks for clients who are interested.

How will I learn about past performance of suggested investments?

For each suggested mutual fund investment, you will receive rate-of-return information for the prior quarter, the prior year and the prior three years. For stocks, you will receive rate-of-return information on each of the two previous years. Because suggested investments are not guaranteed, and have volatility in their value, the past performance does not guarantee future results.

As my investment advisor, what can I expect from Seattle Portfolio Company?

You will receive information and advice about investment strategy that is tailored to your goals and objectives. You will receive specific investment recommendations. You will receive a thorough quarterly review of your situation, including rate-of-return information on your investments and your overall portfolio. You will receive ongoing monitoring and advice about your investment strategy and specific investments. You will have an advisor who is generally available to answer your ongoing investment questions. All investment changes are non-discretionary, which means you will be involved in decisions to make changes on your account.

Specifically, what can I expect in my quarterly review?

You will receive a personal cover letter reviewing the prior quarter, and discussing any ideas for future changes. You will receive a consolidated statement of the names and values of your investments in your Managed Account. For each type of account (i.e., IRA, regular, etc) you will receive portfolio and investment performance (rate of return) for the recent quarter, and portfolio performance for longer periods we have worked together such as one year, two year and since inception.

What other services are available?

Seattle Portfolio Company may be able to help you develop a general long-term financial plan to answer questions such as "When can I realistically retire?" or "How much house can we afford?" They also may be able to discuss or advise on your current employer retirement plan (401k, 403B, etc.) While you are still employed, these assets would not be part of a Managed Account. Whether they can help in these areas is dependent on Seattle Portfolio Company 's, familiarity or resources needed to advise on your particular situation.
